Coburg North celebrated the opening of Space Tank Studio, a brand new custom built makerspace on Saturday night.
About 250 guests attended the launch of what will become a vibrant and supportive working environment for artists and designers.
The Studio was officially opened by Moreland City Council Deputy Mayor, Cr Meghan Hopper who gave a very encouraging speech showing the councils support of this creative community initiative.
Many representatives of RMIT, Monash, Swinburne, the VCA and Deakin also attended to show their support and interest in what they believe will be an important incubator for graduating students who need support in that vital beginning period after University.
Many arts, design and crafts bodies, including The Brunswick Tool Library, Craft Victoria, NAVA and representatives of the Melbourne City Council have contacted Space Tank Studio to express their encouragement and offer assistance.
We have reached our first major milestone of building the studio and workshop facilities and with such enthusiastic support from Melbourne’s creative sector we believe we can now provide a fantastic supportive environment where artisans can get their work done and achieve their creative goals.
